The short answer
The STEP 1 extension observed substantial regain after semaglutide and structured lifestyle support were withdrawn.
Why the context matters
The analysis followed 327 participants for a year after treatment ended. It was exploratory and involved a subset, rather than the full randomized trial.
What remains uncertain
The study does not tell us what every person will experience, or isolate stopping medication from stopping the structured lifestyle program. It is not a test of every possible maintenance approach.
